Dr. Mark Hamilton performs Lip Augmentation using the Juvederm ULTRA collection of HA fillers by Allergan, which contain lidocaine (a local anaesthetic).

At your appointment, he will examine and assess your lips to see if a dermal filler procedure is going to give you the result you desire. If you are suitable, treatments can be performed at the consultation appointment.

Procedure

The treatment routinely takes about 20 minutes. A prescription numbing cream is applied to your lips for 20 minutes prior to your injections to further improve your comfort level during your procedure.

Arnica cream is applied immediately after treatment. Dr. Hamilton recommends you continue to apply Arnica cream for 2-3 days post injection as there may be slight bruising

Do not apply make up or lipstick on the day your treatment.

Downtime & Bruising

Downtime is 24-48 hours. The lips are very vascular and are prone to swelling and bruising which can last in a few days. If you get a bruise, bruises can last up to 7 days.

This type of procedure ideally should not be undertaken within 2 weeks of an important social occasion.

It is recommended that you avoid flying for 5 days post treatment as the altitude of the flight and cabin pressure can affect the settling of the filler and may increase bruising.

How Much Filler do I Need ?

Depending on how much volume you need, you have two choices: 0.55 ml  or 1 ml.

Dr. Mark advises patients to begin with 0.55 ml to achieve a natural result. For those looking for a slightly bigger boost of volume, he recommend that you slowly build up with continued treatments over a period of months.

0.55 ml Lip Filler Injections

0.55 ml Juvederm ULTRA Smile or Juvederm ULTRA 2  is best for first time or nervous patients who want want a very subtle look or for patients looking to top up/ maintain their lip filler

1 ml Lip Filler Injections

When Dr. Mark uses 1 ml syringe of Juvederm ULTRA 3 by Allergan, he injects the product into your upper and lower lips. To avoid the dreaded ‘Tout Pout‘ or ‘Duck Bill‘ look, rather than overfill your lips, any residual filler is injected into corners of your mouth or into your Naso-labial lines.

Lip Fillers should typically last up to 6-9 months.
