When Will My Wrinkle Smoothing Injections Start Working?
You need to allow a few days for ‘ The Magic To Work ‘, so don’t expect your wrinkles to vanish straight away. It takes time for the toxin to get absorbed and to relax your injected muscles, so you won’t see results immediately.
How will I know it’s working?
You’ll feel a tightening of your forehead and notice a softening of your wrinkles within 3 days of your injections. Your frown lines & crows feet will continue to reduce over the following 10 days.
How Long Before I see the Full effect ?
The full effects of your injections won’t be seen for 14 days. It is possible there will be some eyebrow asymmetry during this time. Don’t worry if one side is showing wrinkle smoothing effects faster than the other. You have been injected to give you symmetrical natural looking results, so all will settle down!
Tweakments
Dr. Hamilton always advises waiting the full 2 weeks after your injections before deciding on touch ups as results are still changing and improving up to this point of time. The full effect won’t be seen until after 14 days.
Results can look uneven prior to that, so it is best to wait rather rush in for an adjustment.
What looks uneven today will most likely look perfect in a few days !
We wish our results would last forever
Sadly, they do not. The freezing action of anti wrinkle injections is temporary. The effects will wear off and the nerves will be able to send signals to the injected muscles to start contracting again.
The effects of anti-wrinkle injections gradually reduce over 3 months, with about 50% movement returning at 8 weeks.
Many of our regular patients find that their results last longer and get 4-5 months longevity before topping up.
Our Newbies often need treatments every 3 months (to keep the wrinkles at bay) for the first year or until they have established a regular maintenance program with Dr. Mark.
First timers may feel that their wrinkle smoothing effect does not last as long as they expected especially if they are correcting deep lines forehead and wrinkles. Routinely, they will get longer out of their second treatment.
Once patients establish their own individual maintenance program with Dr. Hamilton, he would routinely see them in his clinics about 3 times per year for their top ups.
As with anything in life, nothing lasts forever. If you stop your anti- wrinkle injections, muscle movement will come back and your wrinkles will return. This type of treatment only keeps wrinkles at bay if it is maintained on a regular basis .
This is both good and bad news: If you LOVE your results, they sadly won’t last very long. On the other hand, if you are not so thrilled with them, they will wear off in less time than it takes to grow out a bad haircut.
Does Exercise Affect Longevity of the treatment?
Your metabolism and lifestyle will affect the longevity of your results.
While there are no papers written to prove the subject, we have observed over many years in our clinics, that athletic exercise definitely does have the possibility of decreasing the duration of anti wrinkle injections.
This actually makes sense, as excessive exercise produces free radicals which have the ability to break down tissue in your body, as well as any products that are injected into your muscles.
No Long Distance runs or strenuous exercise for 24 hours after your injections…
After that – you are good to go !
Anti Wrinkle Newbies
First time patients always need to adjust, not only to their new look, but also to the feeling of having reduced muscle activity in their face. This is natural.
Relax & Don’t Worry. Allow yourself time to get used to the feeling that you can no longer lift your forehead like you’ve been doing for years. This feeling will fade and is usually settles down after 3 to 5 weeks.
Forehead Dosage
After having anti wrinkle injections in your forehead, it is normal for your brow and eyelids to feel heavy. It is almost impossible to treat wrinkles in that area and not give that heavy brow feeling. Dr. Hamilton injects each of his patients with a dosage which is appropriate for them. Typically, he starts with a moderate dose in the frontalis and increases the dosage from there if needed at your next visit.
Trust your doctor- it will subside as you have not been over injected.
Eyebrow Exercise
The Frontalis muscle is the muscle in your forehead that controls the raising of your eyebrows. If, after 2 weeks, you still feel some heaviness, try practicing ‘Gentle’ eyebrow raising lifting exercises and blinking your eyelids rapidly for 30 seconds.
Do this 4 times daily for 2-4 days as it may help you resolve the heaviness…. Don’t overdo it!
Heavy Forehead Feeling After Anti Wrinkle Injections
Anti wrinkle injections are great for treating forehead lines. However, your forehead & eyelids will feel tight or heavy for a few weeks afterwards.
Our regular patients expect this tightness and heaviness after their injections as they know their anti wrinkle injections are taking effect. This resolves itself after 2-4 weeks as the brain gets used to the new relaxation of the muscles. The heavy sensation fades away and forehead and eyelids feel lighter.
End Result – You Look Fabulous!
Hyperhidrosis injections, also known as excessive sweating, will start to work after 2-4 days. Avoid excessive exercise for up to 24 hours after your procedure. It normally takes between two and seven days for you to stop sweating in the treated areas and up to two weeks for maximum effect and dryness.
When Do I Need to Come Back for Treatments ?For the next three and four months relax and enjoy your results before booking your follow up.To look after the results of your treatments & get the most benefit in terms of wrinkle prevention, Dr. Hamilton recommends a maintenance program of every four months if you wish to keep your line-free look.
Wrinkle smoothing usually is at it nicest at 4-6 weeks.
