Lip Flip Procedure Explained
Lip Flips use a small amount of Botox injections to relax the muscles around your upper lip so it turns upward and outward.
This makes your lip look fuller, but its actual volume does not increase. Your lip size will remain the same.
It can also help to smooth & prevent vertical lines developing above your lip.
How we feel about Lip Flips at our clinics.
Lots of our patients love the Lip flip as they like the idea of enhancing their upper lip without looking over-filled.
It really is a nice alternative to dermal fillers for patients who prefer the subtle look!
You may see other clinics, hoping to cash in on this beauty trend ‘Talking Up’ the procedure. Despite all the hype this treatment is getting on Tik Tok as the cheap alternative to dermal lip fillers, it may not actually be the best option for you.
Dr. Mark Hamilton is always honest with his patients and will only treat those for whom the procedure is going to give them an improvement to their appearance.
Am I a suitable candidate?
If you are happy with your upper lip size but you feel that it disappears when you smile, a Lip Flip could be an option you might like to try instead of dermal lip filler.
Should you feel that the results are too subtle or short term, you can always try dermal filler at another visit.
Is it Safe?
Lip Flips are considered a safe, low-risk procedure, because they use such a small amount of toxin.
Patients who regularly have this treatment are always happy with their understated results. Especially as Dr. Hamilton is extremely careful about their dosage and uses very tiny + precise injections.
What could go wrong with a Lip Flip?
It takes a very high level of skill on behalf of your injector to achieve the right effect- the trick is not to overdose the upper lip.
If too much product is injected, it will result in an over relaxation of your lip. It could also make your lips hard to close and affect how you talk, smile, drink and kiss!
The effects don’t last as long as Dermal Lip Fillers.
The muscles around your lip may relax too much. You may drool, have difficulty drinking and struggle to words starting with the letter P and applying lipstick if the lip flip injections are too close to your mouth.
You might also experience the following
- Difficulty in pronouncing certain words.
- Drooling and drooping on one side of your mouth.

- Lopsided smile
There is no way to undo a Lip flip. But the good thing is that the results are temporary and its effects it can be reduced by specific facial yoga exercises.
