Dermal Filler Belfast, Dublin & Galway

Dr. Mark Hamilton has been injecting Dermal Filler in his Belfast, Dublin and Galway clinics for over 17 years.  He performs Cheek Augmentation and treats Naso -Labial Lines + Marionette Lines using the HA filler Restylane® , Restylane LYFT® or Juvederm ULTRA® by Allergan which contain lidocaine (a local anaesthetic).

Restylane Lyft® has a large particle size—think of them like the bricks of a foundation. This thicker filler is excellent for re-building and lifting sagging cheeks. Fillers with a smaller particle size like the Juvederm ULTRA® range, work better for treating fine lines and plumping lips.

Arnica cream is applied to the injection area after treatment. Dr. Mark would recommend you continue to apply Arnica cream for 2-3 days post injection as there may be slight bruising. Downtime is 24-48 hours.

If you are prone to bruising easily, best not to have cosmetic dermal fillers treatments within 10 days of an important social event.  If you get a bruise, it can last 7 to 10 days. Routinely, most patients are usually fine and only experience slight swelling for 24 hours.

Avoid long haul flights for 5-7 days post treatment as the altitude of the flight and cabin pressure might affect the settling of the filler and may increase bruising.

The Difference between Botox and Fillers

Botox injections act by freezing your muscles and stops them from creasing the skin into wrinkles when you frown, laugh or smile. Results take 2 weeks to reach its maximum effect. You will need to have these treatments every 4-6 months. There is no down time for recovery.

HA Dermal Fillers act by filling in the lines on your face. Results are immediate and will continue to improve over 5 days after treatment. One treatment can make skin look plumper and smoother for several months, and maybe longer. You will need to have these treatments every 9-12 months. Downtime for recovery is a few days as you may bruise.

How Can Dermal Fillers Enhance My Appearance?

Dermal fillers are also known as ‘Wrinkle Fillers. Here are their common uses

• Restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples
• Smooth vertical lines above + around your mouth
• Plump & enhance the lips

What are HA Fillers?
